History

Consumer Protection Association (CPA) is
a private non-profit 501c3 organization. CPA grew out of a
faith-based organization in 1967 by a committed community
conscious group of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church whose
efforts were dedicated to advocacy and economic empowerment
of low-income residents of greater Cleveland. CPA, a United
Way agency since 1971 was started With a three (3) year grant
from the Cleveland Foundation.
Solomon Harge, Executive Director, of Consumer Protection
Association, for over thirty-five (35) years, has been on
the forefront of CPA, a private non-profit, comprehensive,
consumer organization serving greater Cleveland. CPA provides
consumer education, energy counseling, financial literacy,
money management legal referral services, mortgage counseling
and offers two (2) representative payee programs. CPA has
served over two (2) million people.
